A Message from District Governor Gary Glockhoff
Welcome to the web site of District 9EC. 9EC is the furthest East of the districts in Iowa and is comprised of Linn, Jones, Jackson, Clinton, Scott, Muscatine, and Cedar Counties. Lions Clubs are active in 50 communities in these seven counties helping the disadvantage-aged and sight impaired with numerous services and activities.
I have been a Lion for a quarter of a century and a barbershop singer for almost as long. My pin features a barbershop quartet (I’m the one on the left in the back row), and I believe that working in harmony is the key to making the maximum impact for good in our communities. We have to be singing the same words, on the proper pitch, matching vowel formation to make “expanded sound.” Barbershoppers call that “ringing” a chord. Lions call it working together for a common goal with great communication and a positive attitude. Lions are the most visible and powerful force for good in eastern Iowa and when we work in harmony, great things happen.
