IOWA LIONS DISTRICT 9EC
District Governor Robert Rhinehart and his wife PDG Kathy Rhinehart
I am Robert Rhinehart, a retired teacher and coach after 44 years in education. I graduated from high school at HLV (Hartwick, Ladora, Victor) in Victor, Iowa. I graduated from William Penn College of Oskaloosa, Iowa in 1966 with a BA degree. My first teaching position which was math, PE and coaching started in the fall of 1966 until the summer of 2011 I was involved in teaching in high schools. My wife Kathy and I were married in 1964. We have a son Tim, and daughters Cindy and Ann. Our daughter Cindy has 3 boys and one of boys has a son. So that makes us great-grand parents.
My first year with Lions was 1977 where I joined the Elgin Lions in Elgin Iowa. When we moved to Eldridge, Iowa in 1983 I transferred my membership there. I served as president of the Elgin club once and twice with Eldridge. As far as serving my clubs I have served as chairman of many activities and worked at many, many events. Over a 13 year period I was the club treasurer. When my wife served as District Governor for 9EC I stepped up to assist as a zone chair for most of the Lion year. The next year I was zone chair again and the last two years I was 2nd Vice and then 1st Vice District Governor.
Last year I got a bachelors and master degree from Lions University. Over the last five years I have attended four International Conventions and five USA/Canada Forums. I attended the Conventions and Leadership Conferences that are put on in Iowa. I attended the Great Plains Lions Leadership Institute and Lions Advanced Leadership Institute. All of the above has advanced my knowledge in Lions and given me much appreciation for what Lions do
My awards have been Lion of the Year with the Eldridge club, a Grass Roots Lion award, a Warren Coleman, Melvin Jones, and a Certificate of Appreciation from the International President.
